This section of our web site is dedicated to Patric McCarthy. Patric was a young man from Bourne, whose life was cut short at a very early age.

Patric was on vacation with his family in New Hampshire less then 5 years ago, and unfortunately got lost in the woods alone. He wasn’t found for 5 days, and when he was found he was dead.

The following year, Patric’s dad and his friends organized a poker run to raise money in Patric’s behalf while keeping his spirit alive. I received a phone call from one of the event organizers a short time following the event that conveyed to me that the organization wished to donate money to every youth organization in town in Patric’s memory. I mentioned to him that real foul poles, similar to those at Fenway Park were on our current wish list to purchase and install at MO Beach and Pocasset. He called me back the next day and said that they would donate the poles at both fields. We came up with the idea to name the poles “Patric’s Poles” in reference to Fenway’s Pesky Pole.

We added the yellow and black signs, which you see at the fields to complete the dedication.

I would like to thank Steve McCarthy, Patric’s dad for his incredible strength and courage, and his endearing love of his son. I would like to thank the co-event coordinators, Tim Reardon and Danny Smith, and I would also like to thank all of the participants who took part in the benefit poker runs, so that Patric’s memory can continue to live on.

Please if you haven’t seen them already, stop by the Monument Beach or Pocasset fields and see these beautiful foul poles

THERE ARE BILLIONS OF ANGELS IN HEAVEN, AND ONE OF THEM IS MY OWN.  MY PRECIOUS SON PATRIC, WHO WAS LEFT ALL ALONE.  IN GOD'S COUNTRY WHERE HE LAID, MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WATCHED, HOPED AND PRAYED THAT MY PRECIOUS SON PATRIC WOULD BE SAVED.

GOD WAS WITH MY SON THAT OCTOBER DAY.  HE REALLY WAS NEVER ALONE.  GOD HOLDING HIS HAND TIGHTLY, DON'T BE SCARED PATRIC I AM TAKING YOU HOME.  TO A PLACE OF PEACE, JOY AND LIGHT.  NO FEAR, DARKNESS OR NO FRIGHT.

TRUST ME PATRIC, I AM YOUR BRIGHTEST LIGHT.  NO MORE CRYING, NO MORE TEARS.  MY PRECIOUS SON PATRIC WAS JUST 10 YEARS.  SO YOUNG, SO PERFECT, SO BOLD AND SO STRONG.  MY PRECIOUS PATRIC WAS WITH GOD ALL ALONG.

A RAINBOW ARCHED OVER LOON MOUNTAIN THAT DAY, WITH MY PRECIOUS PATRIC SAYING "LOOK UP, I'M O.K.

I'M WITH MY FATHER IN HEAVEN YOU SEE.  DON'T CRY OR SHED A TEAR FOR ME.  FOR I AM SAFE NOW, COMFORTED AND SHINING FOR ALL ETERNITY.
