BOURNE YOUTH BASEBALL BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECT
NEW PRESIDENT
January 4, 2012
Craig Coe of Sagamore Beach was elected president of Bourne Youth
Baseball (BYB) by the organization’s Board of Directors on
November 7, 2011. He succeeds Tom Gibson, who as BYB president,
spearheaded numerous BYB improvement projects, including the
rebuilding of Bourne’s baseball fields into some of the best
youth baseball facilities in the region.
Craig Coe is well experienced in youth sports having played and
volunteered for many years throughout his youth and adult life.
Mr. Coe has been involved with Bourne Youth Baseball for many
years, and currently coaches a BYB Babe Ruth team.
“Craig Coe is the perfect person to serve as President of Bourne
Youth Baseball.,” said Mike Carchidi, BYB Vice President. “He
brings energy, vision, and enthusiasm, as well as a thorough
understanding of the workings of the program. His new
responsibilities will ensure continuity of the progress and
success achieved under Tom Gibson’s leadership. The future of
the program is in excellent hands.”
In accepting the position, Mr. Coe commented, “We have a solid
foundation thanks to the work of the outgoing Board of Directors
and our dedicated group of BYB volunteers.
We have a full plate moving into 2012.
We are working hard to make improvements to Keith Field
by repairing the outfield fence, and we are beginning work to
repair the press box and snack bar.
Also, with the help of the Board of Directors, I am
excited to say we will be formally announcing a fee reduction
for some of the age groups for 2012.
One of my goals as President is to work closely with the
Board of Directors to keep BYB participation fees in line for
the families of Bourne, by capitalizing on concessions and our
very popular BYB all-star tournaments.”
Other Bourne Youth Baseball initiatives for 2012 include exploring the possibility of inter-town play for the
advanced age group leagues of BYB, and establishing an
end-of-year awards ceremony to recognize achievements throughout
the league. “Both of these efforts are with the intent of
increasing enthusiasm for the league”, stated Mr. Coe.
BYB registrations for the 2012 season will be held at the Bourne
Veteran’s Memorial Community Center from 6-8pm on February 13th,
15th, and 17th, and from 10am-2pm February 18th.
Families can also download a registration form at
www.byb.org.
Bourne Youth Baseball is a non-profit organization
providing all participants with the enjoyable
recreational activity of baseball by fostering good
sportsmanship and the spirit of team play, as well as the
development of sound fundamental skills in baseball.
